With a rich academic foundation and extensive leadership experience, Mashebane Thosago brings a wealth of knowledge and commitment to her role within Tammy’s International Women in Agriculture Empowerment Association (TIWAEA). Holding dual degrees in Microbiology and Biochemistry as well as Aquaculture, she has furthered her expertise through numerous postgraduate certificates in areas including Project Management, Environmental Impact Assessment, Sustainable Livelihoods, and Legislative Drafting. Additionally, she has completed high-level training programs in leadership, strategic planning, and business management, and has acquired skills in Emotional Intelligence, Time Management, and compliance with BEE codes.
Her professional journey is marked by a passion for policy and sustainable development. She has attended and facilitated a wide range of international conferences, seminars, and forums on policy coordination, industrial development, environmental conservation, and strategic product marketing. Actively involved in both national and provincial policy development, she has contributed significantly to initiatives focused on sustainable growth in South Africa.
Her career spans various roles, from Research Assistant at the University of Limpopo to Environmental Officer, Assistant Director, and Marine Resources Manager. As Marine Resources Manager at Sea Harvest Corporation, she managed quality control, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and human and financial resources for the Marine Resources and Product Management division.
Currently, she is the CEO of MMMAgriConsult Pty Ltd and serves as Chairperson of the South African Network for Women in Fisheries and Aquaculture (SANWFA), under AWFISHNET. She also directs SeBamboo Development, focusing on integrating sea-farmed animals with seaweed for diverse applications in food, beauty, and lab industries. Her dedication to sustainable development, empowerment, and leadership within the agricultural and aquaculture sectors makes her an invaluable leader within TIWAEA.
